Tomorrow is World IPv6 Day, Are You Ready?
It seems like they announced this forever ago, but it is finally here tomorrow. World IPv6 day will hopefully help raise awareness that the time to take your head out of the sand and start making plans to support and transition to IPv6 is here.
The Internet Society are the folks sponsoring IPv6 day, but some of the biggest names in the internet are supporting it.Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, Akamai, Limelight Networks and many others are all behind the test. Speaking of tests you can test your own IPv6 readiness right now by clicking here (link to the Internet Society test).
If you are not IPv6 capable you may have trouble reaching certain web sites tomorrow. Take it as a call to action and get with the program.
At Alert Logic the transition to IPv6 has been on the boards for some time. They announced their IPv6 support back in February. Eric Irvin and Jonathan Ha recently published an article in the ISSA Journal titled “IPv6, Are You Ready?“. The company should have some more news on IPv6 soon.
What about you? Have you done anything to get ready for IPv6? Will IPv6 day get you off your seat and doing something? If not that, what will? I am interested to hear your thoughts.
