HP and Novell Announce Migration Program

HP and Novell today announced an exclusive alliance to migrate HP Identity Center customers to Novell identity and security management solutions.

As part of an agreement between the companies, HP and Novell will jointly offer migration services, HP will resell Novell identity and security management solutions and Novell will license HP Identity Center technology.

Earlier this year, HP announced it will focus its investment in identity management products on existing customers rather than selling the products to new customers. To ensure that they continue to have access to exemplary identity management solutions, existing HP customers can take advantage of this program and migrate to Novell’s industry-leading offerings. Customers who choose not to migrate will continue to be supported by HP.

“HP and Novell have clarified a path forward for HP Identity Center customers who have invested in critical identity management infrastructure,” said Gerry Gebel, vice president and service director, Burton Group. “The agreement between Novell and HP is a positive outcome for both vendors as they partner to address technology and services requirements of enterprises in an increasingly competitive industry.”

“We chose to collaborate with Novell because of its outstanding set of technologies, recognized market leadership and tremendous commitment to working with HP customers,” said Ben Horowitz, vice president and general manager, Business Technology Optimization, Software, HP. “Our joint goal is to ensure HP customers are supported during their migrations.”

Novell’s identity and security management solutions are designed to help enterprise customers address the business challenges of reducing the risk of identity and data theft, streamlining IT administration, enforcing business policies and proving compliance.

The HP and Novell migration program will provide comprehensive support to customers throughout the transition process, including:

  • License credit for current HP Identity Center customers – For the first 12 months, Novell is offering full license credit for customers that begin migration to its identity and security management products.
  • Migration services – The services provided by the HP Consulting and Integration team helps ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption to customers’ businesses.
  • Joint development of migration tools – HP and Novell will develop tools to help their respective services teams automate and ease the transition from HP Identity Center to Novell solutions.

“Novell has built a reputation for delivering leading solutions to our 6,000 identity and security management customers worldwide,” said Jim Ebzery, senior vice president and general manager, Identity and Security Management, Novell. “Together with HP, we can help customers reduce IT costs and maintain user productivity from day one.”
